Manni Dee
DJ | Producer
Manni Dee is a London-based producer and DJ who is known for his full-throttle releases and remixes on Perc Trax, Tresor, THEM, Earwiggle, DSNT and UX, all of which have made him hugely popular amongst artists and techno-lovers alike.
Having begun his journey in music in the West Midlands before moving to Brighton and then London, Manni’s hell-for-leather sound is mostly influenced by the UK electronic music scene. Past releases have tied in themes of British politics and economic disparities of the UK, something which Manni has always been vocal about but his most recent track, a rework of Bangatler's 'What to do' from the film Climax, has no reference to politics - it’s just a straight-up banger on the DSNT rave tape series.
Over the last number of years, Manni has been balancing a demanding tour schedule, producing at home and coordinating his Rinse FM show which has featured a plethora of guests including Rebekah, Umfang, Perc, Giant Swan, Sunil Sharpe and many more. Usually, a Friday, Saturday and possibly Sunday for Manni would mean playing a set in the middle of the night or early morning in a heaving, packed space before rushing off to the airport, but that’s drastically changed for now. The below image reflects what seems like past-life at a Possession party in Paris which Manni recalls fondly…

Where was this photo taken and why did you pick it?
It's a photo I took at Possession in Paris, August 2019. The venue was Dehors Brut, a 3,500 capacity outdoor space. After playing a live set I stuck around to drink in the vibe. Tommy Four Seven was playing while the photo was taken. I have such fond memories of that night/morning. Watching the sun slowly come up was special. The atmosphere at Possession parties is always one of freedom and acceptance, and this party definitely encapsulated that.
What are you listening to at the moment if you’re working from home?
My weekdays haven't really changed much, apart from the anxiety, as I'm usually making music from my home studio. The weekends, of course, are very very different. I generally don't listen to much techno at home. At the moment I've really gotten in to Blonde by Frank Ocean, about 4 years too late.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or anxious, do you have a go-to track or style of music that significantly lifts your spirits?
I mainly listen to Hip Hop and RnB.
How do you intend on celebrating once we’re out the other side?
By trying to be a better person, putting things in perspective and appreciating the small things.
Any tips on how to look after your mind and body during this slightly stressful time?
Try to stay rational and keep loved ones around you if you can. Take time to reflect and learn.
On 24th April, Manni will take part in DSNT’s Studio Sessions series for a production tutorial of how he made ‘Realness’. Sign up here and follow Manni below:
