Bunkerterror

DJ | Producer

Bunkerterror is an Irish producer and DJ based in Dublin who started out producing has thrown himself into producing fiery bangers over the last three years. Throughout lockdown, he has been consistently making new tracks as well as finishing up a stack of incomplete productions which will be released in the coming months.

Killian’s hell for leather approach to production has resulted in a slew of blistering tunes on Voight-Kampff, HARD VISION, INSANE INDUSTRY and a full EP on Archivio 01. He’s currently putting the final touches on three EPs, a handful of tracks for V/As and upcoming remixes; all for a number of imprints including Civil Unrest, Mtrpls and LABURNŪM Records. Killian shows no hesitation in circulating his productions to artists from all over and this hard-nosed approach is beginning to pay off. VTSS recently gave ‘Midsommar’ a whirl on HÖR Berlin as did Ôneyra with ‘Jarhead.’ Randomer and Swarm Intelligence have also whacked out Bunkerterror tracks over the last couple of months.

Bookings to support DYEN and KRTM in Dublin and a headline show at Dali in Cork had allowed Killian an opportunity to road-test his tracks in tandem with building up knowledge as a DJ, as well as playing with the Irish collective Speed Demons in Wigwam’s infamous basement. COVID-19 then got in the way of warm-up sets for JoeFarr and TRYM at 39/40, Dublin, and another headline bill at Limerick’s Pharmacia (all of these events are still postponed for the foreseeable future).

With such a driven attitude to producing and experimenting with genres outside of techno - his broken edit of Sonique’s classic ‘It Feels So Good’ is a far cry from Killian’s typically thundering sound - it’s safe to say that Bunkerterror is a name you’ll be hearing more of regardless of a pandemic.

The below memory comes from a time when festivals were taken for granted which Killian recalls with a nostalgia…

Where was this photo taken and why did you pick it?

This photo was taken at the campsite just after Four Tet’s set in the early morning at Melt Festival.

Seeing Four Tet at the beach stage of Melt was probably one of the best experiences I've had, everything was perfect. Seeing the sun come up after this was very wholesome, I wasn't doing the best mentally at the time and it sounds proper cliche, but I'll always remember at that moment nothing else mattered. I had no worries or problems. It's a lovely memory I'll always hold on to.

What are you listening to at the moment if you’re working from home or if you’re still working out in the world, do you have a soundtrack to accompany your journey?

I'm not currently working at the moment so I've taken the time to do a lot of digging. I listen to a lot of genres from pop to metal to techno etc., I'll listen to anything. I love finding new music, it's one of the main things keeping me sane at the moment.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or anxious, do you have a go-to track or style of music that significantly lifts your spirits?

One track I've been rinsing is Sluhg - Feelings.

Ali (Sluhg) sent me this track a while ago and I haven't stopped listening to it. The track reminds me that everything is going to be grand - I think tracks like that are very special. If you haven't heard it already play it loud.

How do you intend on celebrating once we’re out the other side?

The biggest hooley of me life.

Any tips on how to look after your mind and body during this slightly stressful time?

For me getting up and having a shower, and getting dressed up in nice clothes instead of sitting around in tracksuits helps me feel a bit better. I enjoy going for walks by myself with music as well, it's nice to get out of the gaff.

Try not to be so hard on yourself either, you don't always have to be super productive. I see a lot of things going around saying ‘if you don't take advantage of this time to be productive you're wasting your time etc.’ which I think is a load of bollocks.
