Lewis G Burton
DJ | Producer | Performer
Described as ‘an icon of London's queer clubbing scene’ by Boiler Room, Lewis G Burton is a DJ, producer, live performer and co-founder of the INFERNO collective. The platform runs queer techno events with a strong emphasis on live performance in intimate venues across London.
As a DJ, Burton’s takes no prisoners. They have played in Paris, Berlin, Lisbon and India but can mostly be found in the UK capital, playing at a range of venues including Pickle Factory, Five Miles, Dalston Superstore and Electrowerkz. As an advocate for trans+ rights, Lewis is also one of the key organisers for Trans+ Pride 2020 but like many events at the moment, it’s been postponed until further notice.
Pummelling techno makes up Lewis’s sound which shines through their most recent release ‘Hermaphrodite’ from their debut EP ‘Pain Relief.’ Having spent the majority of their time out in clubs whether they were playing, performing or partying, Lewis is a creature of the night where the below memory comes from…

Where was this photo taken and why did you pick it?
This photo was taken of me by Roxy Lee just before I went on to play at the INFERNO takeover at the ICA that I curated. The vibe was electric I jumped on after Marum finished playing an amazing set.
What are you listening to at the moment if you’re working from home or if you’re still working out in the world, do you have a soundtrack to accompany your journey?
I'm listening to Jasmine Infiniti's new album BXTCH SLÅP. I'm just spending the time resting, listening to new music and catching up on admin as all of my gigs have been cancelled for the foreseeable future.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed about the pandemic and all its knock-on effects, do you have a go-to track or style of music that significantly lifts your spirits?
I'm not really feeling too overwhelmed by the pandemic - I'm trying to look at the positives. I listen to everything but the one track that has been definitely lifting my spirits though this is Stupid Love by Lady Gaga hahaha.
How do you intend on celebrating once we’re out the other side?
I INTEND ON DOING EVERYTHING. I miss eating out, I miss my friends, my community and I miss clubs so much!
Any tips on how to look after your mind and body during this limbo?
Find a routine that works for you. The thing that’s working for me is getting up and doing yoga first thing in the morning, it keeps me grounded and clearheaded. If I'm starting to feel anxious I'll do some meditation or journaling.
